The Department of Mechanical
Engineering at Wichita State University (WSU) is
seeking candidates for an opening in a
tenure-eligible position at the assistant or
associate professor level. Applications are sought
in the area of Physical Metallurgy/Materials
Engineering, Materials Processing, Biomaterials, and
Advanced Material Technologies such as, Friction
Stir welding, nanotechnology, and nanocomposites.
Comprehensive mechanical design experience is
highly desirable. Preference is given to candidates
who have expertise in
one or more of the above areas and demonstrated
potential for effective teaching and successful
research. The position requires a Ph.D. in
Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, good written
and oral communication skills, and successful
experience with diverse populations. The successful
candidate must be eligible to work in the US;
applicants must indicate visa/residency status.
Duties will include teaching undergraduate and
graduate courses, developing externally funded
research programs, supervising graduate student
research, and traditional university service. The
successful candidate will have the opportunity to
interact with the local industry. Wichita is known
as the "Air Capital of the World" and there is a
long history of collaboration between the University
and major aircraft manufacturers located in Wichita.
